How to prepare for your online yoga class
  • Clear a space that is bigger than your mat so that you can freely move around, lift your arms to the sides for example. Sometimes we use a wall in class so brilliant if you have that nearby.
  • Have a blanket handy to cover yourself during relaxation or to put under the knees if you need it. You may wish to prepare a yoga block or one or two sturdy books to sit on if you need to. I always send out an email with any extra props that we might need in the class.
  • Position your device (phone or computer) where you can ideally fully see yourself standing up and lying down. The best angle would be the device facing the long side of your mat so you can aim for that if at all possible.
  • Make sure your device is fully charged or plugged in, and set the volume to half to avoid feedback.
  • Please let me know about any health issues before the class by sending me an email or using the chat option in Zoom.
How to join your online yoga class
  • All classes take place on Zoom. I will send you a link to the meeting once your booking is confirmed. Click on the link or use the meeting ID and password to join.
  • The meeting will be open about 10 minutes before the class so you can check everything is working fine, chat to people and settle down.
What to expect during the class
  • When you join the meeting I kindly ask that you turn your camera on for the class. In this way I will be able to see what you are doing and offer further guidance or suggest modifications. If you need to discuss this further, please get in touch and we can figure out the best way to do it.
  • I will ask you to mute your microphone if there are noises around you as this can be very disturbing for everyone.
  • During the class I will spotlight my window in Zoom so you will be able to see me even if there are noises from other people’s windows. You will be in a very small box at on other people’s screens.
  • The classes will start promptly on time.
  • If you need to ask a question or communicate something, you can unmute yourself or use the chat option (I might miss that in the flow of the class). Asking questions or for clarification is always welcome.
Disclaimer

I make every effort to observe and offer suggestions for modifications and improvement but the full responsibility for your health and safety during the class and in your home lies with you.

Please listen to your body and if something doesn’t feel right get out of the posture. Use the props and the modifications when I suggest them to find the best way to practice for yourself. It doesn’t matter if you go for the most difficult option, it is in fact better not to if you are not ready for it. One sign for that will be your breath. If your breathing is fast and short, strained or you are holding your breath, you are probably doing more than you should. Stay present to what is happening in your body and practice responsibly.

If you want to discuss anything connected to your experience of doing yoga online or is you have any questions, do not hesitate to get in touch with me.
