What to expect

Many of our daily activities tend to involve reaching forward with our arms – holding a steering wheel, typing on a keyboard, texting on a phone, cooking or holding a book, riding a bike. All of these actions affect our shoulders and upper back and in many cases lead to too much rounding of the spine and forward head position. All of this misalignment contributes to a number of significant problems, such as neck pain, headaches, chronically contracted muscles, and jaw misalignment and pain.

In this course we will work on counterbalancing these tendencies. We will focus on opening the chest, relaxing and lengthening the muscles in the front of the shoulders which are often in a chronic contraction. Apart form strengthening and mobilising the arms, we will also be strengthening the area around the shoulder blades to make sure they are in their right position stabilising our upper limbs. There will be breath work to free the spine and the rib cage as well as poses to release tension in the neck. All classes will include relaxation.

You don’t need any prior knowledge of yoga to join us.
