I spent an hour this morning with my strawberries as they were totally overgrown by weeds. What is my excuse? I have been busy, had no time. But I had to tend to my garden, and now!
As I was working and clearing, the strawberries started to actually show and I saw they are struggling. They aren’t growing and producing, they are depressed.
And isn’t it the same with us, with our inner garden. We are constantly being asked to give – to our families and friends, at work and for the community. We are often so busy that we stop weeding our own gardens and with time we become overwhelmed – emotionally, mentally and physically. Exhausted, unproductive.
The thing is too, once your garden is overgrown, it becomes much harder to clean. First, the job seems too big to even start. And then, when you muster the determination, it is much harder to do – you can barely make the distinction between friends and foes and they are so entangled that sometimes we pull what we have planted.
Thai yoga massage is the ideal tool for taking care of our inner garden. It helps with stress and anxiety, downregulates the nervous system and reduces tension. Furthermore, it brings us back in touch with our bodies and revives energy.
Finally, the rewards of the slow, progressive work in Thai massage are deep relaxation and a heightened sense of self. After a massage people often feel an immediate sense of grounding and openness.
So, if you feel it’s time to stop and recharge, to tend to yourself, do get in touch!
